SDHuntLink is offered at no upfront expense to both landowners and hunters by Batteen Software, LLC, owned and operated by me, John Batteen. We're under no obligation to make this service any particular way. We make it the way we want it and you can either use it or not use it.

There is no service guarantee. If you spend a bunch of money on signs and then don't make any money on hunters because my website went down at a critical time, or just because no one ever scanned the QR code on your signs, Batteen Software, LLC is not liable for that. Have alternate contact info on your signs.

We're going to do my best to make sure the site stays up, because we want to use this website to sell more software jobs. But sometimes the internet goes down, or the server gets struck by lightning, or we do something dumb. We're going to do my best to promote this website and all landowners who advertise on it, but it might not work. We might not make any money doing this. If you can't afford to lose money doing this, then don't.

Hunting is an inherently dangerous activity. It's a sport that involves guns, a tool designed to kill. Batteen Software, LLC is just a middleman here. If we find out that a hunter or a landowner is problematic, we will remove them from the platform without hesitation, but there's no way we can know that in advance. When we verify landowners, all we're doing is verifying that they are real people and that they own or lease the properties they seek to advertise. Please report unsafe users immediately.

Landowners are responsible for verifying that all hunters they receive are properly licensed and capable of operating a firearm safely. If you or your livestock or your property get shot because you let an inexperienced hunter onto your land, Batteen Software, LLC is not liable for that.

All hunters are responsible for their own safety while hunting. If you break your ankle in a badger hole or get caught on some old barbed wire, or get chased by the landowner's bull, Batteen Software, LLC is not liable for that. If you choose a dangerous hunting partner and get shot, Batteen Software, LLC is not liable for that.

When a landowner accepts a hunter's reservation request, they are agreeing to provide the described hunt. If the landowner cancels the reservation, or if the hunter feels the hunt provided was not up to their expectations, Batteen Software, LLC is not responsible for reimbursement. Responsibility for reimbursement falls on the landowner.

For now, the site is free to use for everyone. We're going to do our best to keep it that way. We may in the future offer a premium level of service. When there are enough users, we might sell some ads. Mostly, it's an advertisement for Batteen Software, LLC.

These are the current terms as of March 2nd, 2026. We reserve the right to change the Terms & Conditions at any time. We will inform you when we do so.
